Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, widely known as Kwam 1, has publicly endorsed his daughter Damilola Marshall’s political ambitions by presenting her to Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat. According to Punch, the veteran musician called his daughter forward during a public event and told Hamzat, “I hand her over to you,” in a playful gesture meant to secure the deputy governor’s support for her electoral campaign.

Premium Times reported that the interaction took place on Sunday at a programme organized by the Muhtadeen Islamic Foundation, a group dedicated to promoting Islam as a religion of peace. Hamzat, who is the All Progressives Congress candidate for the Lagos governorship, accepted the gesture with laughter. Premium Times noted that he gestured toward Damilola’s seat while she appeared amused by her father’s public display of support. The footage subsequently circulated on social media, gaining significant traction online.

Damilola Marshall, a lawyer who serves as a Senior Special Assistant to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, is seeking election to the Lagos State House of Assembly. Punch reported that she declared her ambition on March 17, 2026, via an Instagram post, stating she was ready to serve the Surulere Constituency II. She cited her 12 years of legal practice as the foundation for her understanding of governance and justice, pledging to represent young people in the constituency.

During the event, Kwam 1 also expressed confidence in Hamzat’s prospects for the forthcoming governorship election. Premium Times quoted the musician predicting that President Bola Tinubu would secure a second term, adding that residents and Nigerians worldwide would celebrate these victories. He described Hamzat as the “incoming governor” and suggested that by January or February, the community would engage in victory dances. The musician further argued that Hamzat was reaping the benefits of his long-standing service in the entourage of former Lagos Governor Babatunde Fashola, claiming that MIFO had laid the groundwork for his political rise 13 years ago.
