Samsung Electronics has revealed the Galaxy Tab S12 series, which includes the Ultra and Plus models, according to Nairametrics. The announcement highlights a focus on durability and a significantly reduced physical profile. Lucas Lee, head of Samsung’s West Africa operations, described the new hardware as suitable for users with specific professional ambitions. The company positions this release as its most versatile tablet offering to date.
Technical improvements center on processing power and energy efficiency. The Ultra model measures just 5.1mm in thickness, making it the slimmest device in the Galaxy Tab family. Both units utilize a 3nm chip that increases neural processing speeds by 61% relative to the previous generation. Battery capacity supports up to 23 hours of use on the Ultra variant, while a 45W charger restores full power in roughly 95 minutes. Durability is reinforced through IP68 ratings for dust and water protection.
Software integration plays a major role in the product strategy. The tablets operate on Android 17 with One UI 9 and include the latest Galaxy AI tools. Adobe Photoshop is pre-installed, a first for the Android tablet segment, accompanied by four months of mobile plan access. Other included applications such as Notability and Goodnotes offer discounted trials. A six-month trial period for Google AI Pro is also included, granting immediate access to Gemini models for research and summarization tasks.
Productivity features allow users to divide the display into three distinct areas for concurrent work. An ergonomic S Pen is included with every unit to support precise annotation and sketching. Nairametrics reported that the "Galaxy Tab S12 series will be available from Oct. 14 at Samsung Experience Stores, authorized dealers, and partner retailers nationwide." The hardware will be sold in Gray and Silver finishes, with long-term support for multiple operating system updates.
