Ajeet Singh, the serial entrepreneur who co-founded the hybrid cloud platform Nutanix and the analytics company ThoughtSpot, has revealed the start of his third venture, Different. According to Inc42, the AI-powered marketing technology startup has exited stealth mode after closing a seed funding round. The company secured $48 million, approximately 453 crore rupees, in this financing, which was spearheaded by General Catalyst. Inc42 noted that Lightspeed Venture Partners also contributed to the investment round.

Singh is joined at the new startup by Abhishek Pani, a former executive at Asana, and Abhinav Yajurvedi, who previously served as the chief technology and product officer at PharmEasy. In a LinkedIn post, Singh characterized the company as an AI marketing system built to handle the entire demand generation process for small B2B marketing teams. Inc42 indicated that the startup maintains operational teams in both San Francisco and Bengaluru, as detailed on its website.

The platform targets common enterprise challenges, such as the need to recruit specialized talent, contract with multiple external agencies, and oversee fragmented software tools. Different’s AI system designs, produces, executes, and expands personalized content across various channels based on specific business contexts and strategies. The platform also analyzes outcomes to adjust and improve performance. Before its public debut, the company trialed its services with initial corporate clients, including software firms Descope and Motif.

Singh’s background includes education at IIT Kanpur and IIM Calcutta, along with previous roles at Oracle, Honeywell, and PwC. He co-founded Nutanix in 2009, which listed on the Nasdaq in 2016, and launched ThoughtSpot in 2012. ThoughtSpot has raised over $670 million and was last valued at nearly $4.5 billion. Inc42 observed that Singh’s launch occurs during a period when many founders are starting new ventures, citing recent examples such as Gravity, Neo, and UN:BLOC.
