A significant drug empire in Mobile, Alabama, has come to an end with its alleged mastermind, McGee, receiving life sentences and a substantial fine. According to prosecutors, McGee operated a large-scale narcotics operation involving drugs, firearms, and minors.
The operation allegedly pumped cocaine and fentanyl through Mobile for over a decade, exceeding 450 kilograms of cocaine, exceeding the crucial threshold for federal sentencing guidelines. As part of the operation, McGee had connections to Mexican cartels, which provided substantial quantities of the illicit substances. Financial investigations revealed that McGee made significant profits from the operation, reportedly up to $120,000 per month.
However, the most disturbing allegations surround the involvement of children in the operation. Prosecutors claim that McGee enlisted an 8-year-old boy to dispose of drugs before law enforcement arrived and also used a 3-year-old boy to carry a backpack full of drugs during a raid. The severe severity of the sentence was justified by the U.S. Attorney as the operation involved narcotics, weapons, violence, and financial crimes.
McGee's family members were also convicted and sentenced in connection with the operation. His wife received a life sentence, and his sister-in-law received a 13-year and three-month sentence. McGee's next step will be to challenge his conviction and sentence in the appellate courts.
