More than 200 residents of Techiman in Ghana’s Bono East Region participated in a free health screening exercise organized by the KGL Foundation. According to MyJoyOnline and AllAfrica, the outreach was conducted in collaboration with Koranteng Memorial Clinic and AgricoHub as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities. The event offered screenings for breast cancer, blood pressure, human papillomavirus, hepatitis B and C, and eye conditions, alongside a blood donation drive to replenish local supplies.

Nii Ankonu Annorbah-Sarpei, Programmes Manager at the KGL Foundation, stated that the initiative targeted young people and women to promote preventive healthcare. He noted that the exercise extended beyond breast cancer to include general well-being checks such as ear screening and eye testing. Elizabeth Korsah Koranteng, CEO of Koranteng Memorial Clinic, emphasized that early screening helps avoid the financial burden of advanced diagnosis, urging residents to dispel misconceptions that breast cancer is a curse.

In Accra, the 100 Black Men of Ghana held a separate screening event at The Trust Hospital’s Osu branch on Saturday. MyJoyOnline reported that approximately 70 women and one man benefited from the five-hour event, which was hosted by Maurice Cheetham, CEO of Diaspora Bridge Consulting. The Adontemhene of Osu, Nii Nortey Nsuro Oquaye, also attended, contributing to the community-focused atmosphere. Medical officers from The Trust Hospital conducted the screenings, while sponsors included Jaleaa and Duncan's.

Cheetham argued that such initiatives should occur year-round rather than only during awareness months to ensure consistent early detection. He mentioned that his team plans to consult with diaspora investors in December. The next outreach is scheduled for Osu in partnership with Top Up Pharmacy. Meanwhile, in Techiman, George Antwi Boasiako, CEO of AgricoHub, highlighted the link between health and economic productivity, encouraging business owners to prioritize their well-being to sustain their operations.
