Online travel aggregator ixigo posted a consolidated net profit of ₹63.4 crore for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, reversing a loss of ₹3.5 crore from the same period last year. According to Inc42, the company’s shares climbed 13.12% intraday to hit a high of ₹163.30 on the Bombay Stock Exchange after the earnings release. MediaNama noted that the profit was primarily driven by exceptional items related to the company’s investment in intercity bus operator Freshbus.
In August, ixigo divested a portion of its Freshbus holding, reducing its stake from 25.66% to 8.27%, which generated a gain of ₹40.7 crore. Inc42 reported that this transaction included the revaluation of the remaining stake, causing Freshbus to no longer be classified as an associate. MediaNama explained that the exit allowed ixigo to focus on its role as a technology and distribution platform, leveraging operational insights from electric buses to create products for other EV operators.
The company’s operating revenue increased 12.9% year-on-year to ₹321 crore, while gross transaction value grew 22% to ₹5,304.5 crore. However, adjusted EBITDA dropped 17.2% to ₹23.6 crore, a decrease attributed in part to a one-off expense in the previous year. MediaNama highlighted that ixigo disclosed its hotel business as a separate operating segment for the first time, citing emerging product-market fit and materiality. Hotel gross transaction value rose 2.6 times year-on-year to ₹111 crore, with revenue growing more than sixfold to ₹8.1 crore.
The company stated that over 86% of hotel bookings came from existing users of its apps, including Confirmtkt and Abhibus. MediaNama reported that ixigo maintains direct ties with over 12,000 hotels in roughly 1,100 towns. Additionally, the platform’s AI assistant TARA resolved 94% of chat queries without human intervention during the quarter, handling more than 43 lakh customer queries. ixigo is also developing a voice-first assistant using in-house small language models to enhance its agentic travel flows.
