Tajudeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, launched a series of development projects across Kubau, Ikara, and Zaria local government areas in Kaduna State on Sunday. According to Punch, the initiatives cover education, healthcare, road construction, and economic empowerment, aiming to improve infrastructure and promote self-reliance among residents. In Kubau, Abbas started the building of a ten-room school facility at Banki Primary School, complete with staff offices and furniture. He revealed that ten significant developments were planned for the region, covering student housing at the local nursing college, a National Open University of Nigeria learning hub, and a public library. Additional plans include refurbishing nursing facilities and paving the Kankia-Kargi route, with new roads proposed to link several nearby communities for better access.

In Ikara, the Speaker broke ground on a new road connecting Sani Ahmad Junction to the Central Primary School. Punch reported that other developments in this area include a National Open University learning hub, a twelve-room school block, and a primary health clinic. Abbas pointed to federal university-related advances under President Bola Tinubu’s government, such as elevating the Federal College of Education in Zaria to university status and creating a new applied sciences institution in Kachia. He noted that a bill he introduced for turning Kaduna Polytechnic into a Federal University of Technology had received presidential sign-off.

In Zaria, Abbas handed out cars, bikes, and other gear to young people, women, and community groups to aid their commercial activities. He framed the move as a productivity investment rather than charity, advising recipients to keep financial records and form cooperatives to lower operating costs. Governor Uba Sani praised the Speaker for facilitating these opportunities, stating that the projects would complement the state government’s development efforts. Both officials encouraged residents to back the All Progressives Congress candidates, including Tinubu and Sani, in the 2027 general elections.
